The theme song for “Seinfeld” has become almost as iconic as the show itself. The man responsible for this well-known “percolating groove” is Jonathan Wolff, a film composer who wrote the scores for “Seinfeld,” “Will and Grace,” and many other television shows.
Wolff was a guest speaker at UTC on Wednesday, September 30, discussing his career in the television industry, how he created well known theme songs, some insight into music’s role in contemporary popular culture, and what it means to be “cool.”
In this clip, Wolff describes how he came up with the Seinfeld theme song, and how he decided to use his own voice to create the percussive popping sounds the theme is known for.
