Fall Commencement 2015 was a celebration of new beginnings and accomplishing long-lived dreams. Among the graduates was internationally acclaimed actor, Dennis Haskins, known by many as Bayside High’s principal, Mr. Belding, from the early 90’s television show Saved by the Bell. For Haskins, Commencement was a celebration of completing a degree out on hold many years ago.
Recognized with an Honorary Degree, Charles Cofield joined a prestigious lot of individuals. As Chancellor Steven Angle explained,
“UTC has granted only six such degrees since joining the University of Tennessee system in 1969. So this is a very elite group.”
Jacob Huesman, SoCon Offensive Player of the Year and quarterback for the Mocs this season was also among the graduates on Saturday. Huesman is now a second generation graduate continuing his father, Mocs football coach Russ Huesman’s, legacy.
“It means a lot to me to follow in his footsteps. He has made quite a legacy at UTC and I am glad that I had the chance to continue that legacy,” Huesman said.
With his undergraduate career behind him, Huesman is looking forward and preparing to take his athletic career to the next level.
“Now for the next few months I am going to train to try to have an opportunity to continue to play football at some level.”
