Blake Corman attended last year’s Suit Up and says not only did he come away with a new wardrobe, he left without spending a fortune.
“I’m not kidding you, one can completely revamp their wardrobe,” says Corman, a junior in chemistry. “I left with $1,400 in merchandise and spent less than $400 with my JC Penney card.”
For the third year, UTC Career Services is sponsoring Suit-Up, a chance for students to update their wardrobe and give it a professional look, a critical element when they’re out in the real world of job interviews.
“This program is to help students develop more comfort with their professional brand,” says Robert Liddell, director of University Career Services and organizer of Suit Up.
In 2018, over 400 students participated, and Liddell hopes that number grows this year.
At the event, UTC faculty and staff and JCPenney employees will advise students on clothing, including professional measurements, fitting and style suggestions for a business-appropriate look.
There will also be a fashion show at noon on Thursday, Jan. 24, in the University Center. Students will model the versatility a young professional can have with their clothing choices. JCPenney staff will select one model to win an interview outfit worn in the fashion show. Details can be found at: https://www.utc.edu/university-career-services/events/jcpenneysuitup.php
