Emily Resenquist joins the Center for Women and Gender Studies as assistant director of advocacy and education for Survivor Advocacy Services at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Serving as victim advocate, she’ll work with Survivor Advocacy Services to provide support to any students, staff or faculty who have experienced sexual and relationship violence.
“We are here to help clients navigate whatever they deem their healing process to be. Whether that be connecting them with resources or explaining what reporting processes look like and providing support,” Rosenquist explained.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Rosenquist earned a master’s in college student personnel administration and a graduate certificate in women’s and gender studies, all from Illinois State University.
During this time, she also worked in equity, compliance and achievement at Heartland Community College in Illinois. Her graduate assistantship at the college focused on programming for sexual violence prevention and equity and inclusion.
In her job at UTC, she said she is “looking forward to working one-on-one with students to help them feel confident in themselves. Empowering students to make well-informed choices that align with their values is something I strive for.
“I want students to feel confident being their authentic self and helping others do the same.”
