Black History Month at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga began with an energetic start.
On Monday, Feb. 3, students, faculty and staff gathered in Lupton Hall for the kickoff festivities and a meal courtesy of Mocs Dining. The event featured performances by the UTC Littleton H. Mason Singers and the Ladies of Gold dance team, followed by an open dance session where attendees could join in.
The celebration also included UTC’s fourth annual “Taste of Black Chattanooga,” showcasing local Black-owned businesses. Vendors JJ Fish & Chicken, 7 mile beet, and Sugar, Spice, & Everything Ice offered samples of their signature snacks and dishes.
The event was sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Student Success Programs, and the Office of Student and Family Engagement.
