The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s School of Nursing has been recognized as a top 20 nursing school in CollegeAtlas.org’s Top Nursing Schools 2014 rankings.
UTC’s four-year baccalaureate program in nursing prepares graduates to take the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure exam (NCLEX) to become a Registered Nurse. In May 2013, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) class of May 2013 had a 96 per cent pass rate.
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Concentration has seen dramatic growth over the past five years. The FNP Concentration is known for its successful graduates who are working in the community.
In fall 2013, MSN FNP graduates had begun certification testing. At that time, fourteen of the fifteen new graduates had taken their certification exam, and 100 per cent passed the test.
The Master of Science in Nursing Nurse Anesthesia Concentration graduated a class of 26 in August 2013—graduates soon began certification testing. In fall 2013, the Nurse Anesthesia program boasted a 100 per cent first-time pass rate on certification testing.
“The faculty in the School of Nursing works very hard to ensure that all students, no matter what level, have opportunities to develop their critical thinking skills. We prepare students who are ready to step into any situation, whether is it at the BSN, MSN or DNP level—we feel a UTC School of Nursing graduate can meet the challenge. We meet with our partners in the community often to identify any critical needs,” said Dr. Chris Smith, Director of the UTC School of Nursing.
