Chi Omega at UTC was recently recognized as a Chapter of Excellence at the organization’s national conference. UTC’s Delta Alpha chapter received high scores in the areas of overall chapter GPA, retention, and campus involvement.
“The Chapter of Excellence Award is the highest honor a chapter can get. The award is given to the chapters who receive 85 percent or higher consistently each month throughout a two-year time period on a performance scorecard,” Hannah Burton, a senior from Memphis, Tennessee and president of the UTC chapter of Chi Omega, said.
The performance scorecard ranks each chapter in retention, recruitment rates campus and community involvement, and other areas. Chi Omega at UTC was one of only 35 chapters to receive the award this year.
“It’s so heartwarming to see my sisters’ hard work in being a well-rounded chapter pay off. Being able to bring home a tangible award at the national level, says to my sisters, ‘Thank you for studying so hard every week,’ and ‘Thank you for caring so deeply about our Make-A-Wish’s child’s dream to go to Hawaii,’ Burton said.
“I also think it is very representative of the university we attend,” Burton said. “It was one of our proudest moments to represent UTC at the national level.”
