Drinking and driving is a serious problem for many people, especially college students. A Moc Wreck program helped students experience the consequences of drinking and driving through a simulated car crash and rescue.
The mock crash demonstrated the dangers of drinking and driving, the importance of seat belt use, and hazards of distracted driving.
UTC Police, Counseling and Personal Development, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department, Chattanooga Police and Chattanooga Fire Departments, UTC Safety and Risk Management, 1N3, and Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services participated in the simulation.
The campus community remembered the victims of drunk driving while awakening students to the horrors of drinking and driving. The mock crash helped students see the reality of unsafe driving choices and encouraged students to intervene before someone drives intoxicated.
