A group of middle school students had a special team member join their mission at the Challenger Center on October 13.
Miss Tennessee 2015, Hannah Robison, has made it her mission to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education since she was crowned in June. Robison is a Chemistry major and has already helped launch STEM programs in several Tennessee counties this year. During her visit to UTC’s Challenger STEM Learning Center, Robison joined a team of Middle School students from Nashville’s Harding Academy as they launched their mission to Mars.
Our Center is a member of the international network of learning centers founded by the families of the 1986 Challenger Crew. The Challenger Centers honor their memory by promoting STEM education through exciting, hands-on space simulations. These simulations include missions to the Moon, Mars, and a rendezvous with Comet Halley where the crew members are faced with the tasks of manning their shuttles, sending out probes to their prospective locations, and maneuvering safe landings.

I love that she does a science experiment when she visits schools! Great role model for the tween girls!
