On April 16, from 9 A.M. – 12 P.M., in the UC Auditorium, the School of Nursing and the COMPASS Grant will host a free lecture examining examine the issue of health equity and how inequality contributes to differences in health.
In “Everybody get up! Strategies for addressing disparities in weight-related behaviors,” Dr. Melicia Whitt-Glover, President & CEO, Gramercy Research Group, LLC, Winston-Salem, NC, will share strategies for addressing inequities to better reduce disparities in physical activities as well as providing some suggestions on how to immediately increase physical activity in our own lives.
The lecture is of particular interest to those currently in nursing, or interested in nursing, but is open to anyone who would like to attend.

Dr. Whitt-Glover is President & CEO of Gramercy Research Group in Winston-Salem, NC, whose mission is to positively impact and improve the lives of individuals and communities by addressing health and related issues. Whitt-Glover is also currently involved in research studies designed to identify effective strategies to increase weight loss and weight gain prevention among underserved communities, and to promote adherence to national recommendations for diet and physical activity.
