Yancy Freeman has been promoted to Associate Provost for Enrollment Services at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
For the past seven years, Freeman has been instrumental in the development and improvement of processes for enrollment management. Through his ongoing efforts, Academic Affairs has developed consistent and integrated services for records and registration, financial aid, admissions, orientation, advising, the student information system, and more. With Freeman’s guidance, the university has established the Center for Advisement, the Advisors’ Council, and a research, data-informed approach for using the advising process to increase retention and student success. Through his leadership and contributions, the UTC Student Success Center developed a proposal and secured grant funding to increase services and matriculation rates for high risk academic and developmental students. In addition, Freeman served as chair for the Enrollment Management team, which developed a strategy for enrollment growth and increasing freshman quality indicators.
Using a data-informed process for decision making and organizational transformation, Freeman has developed strategies for cross-divisional enrollment groups to work together as they focus on strategic enrollment management, improved freshman success processes, and streamlined services to all constituents. Through these efforts, along with other enrollment services and retention strategies, Freeman has supported the university to earn solid evaluations with the Tennessee Complete College funding (performance funding) process as well as maintain strong levels of enrollment, progression, and completion.
Freeman is as actively engaged in the community as he is with the University. His contributions span a diverse array of areas where he serves on a number of committees and boards..
Freeman is a proud alumnus twice over with his B.S. in Political Science and M.A. of Public Administration both earned at UTC. He is currently working on a Doctorate in Learning and Leadership; Freeman’s dissertation topic will allow him to continue to assist the University by creating a model for predicting student success and retention, based on the Tennessee Lottery Scholarship.
