His research interests include beetle systematics (description of new species, phylogenetic analyses and monographs) and fossil insects. Recent projects involved cataloging and identifying beetles in the Tenn. Valley region and Cumberland Plateau to determine how many beetles live in the state and their conservation status. Chatzimanolis was recently awarded the 2015-16 Ruth S. Holmberg Grant for Faculty Excellence and the College of Art and Sciences’ 2014-15 Research and Creative Activity Award. His research on classification revision and evolution of staphylinid beetles has been published in journals including Zootaxa and the Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences.
Dr. Li Yang

Yang is the director of UTC Information Security (InfoSec) Center, a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense (CAE-IA/CD). Her research interests include network and information security, big data analytics, massive data mining, bioinformatics and engineering techniques for complex software system design. She has authored papers on these areas in refereed journal, conferences and symposiums. Yang is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Information Security and Privacy. She has secured over four million in external funding from National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DoD) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
