What: “Exploring the Notion of Political Freedom in Modern India Through Recent Developments in Cross-Cultural Scholarship” lecture by Dr. Monika Kirloskar-Steinbach
Details: Presented by the Department of Philosophy and Religion. Born and raised in India, Kirloskar-Steinbach focuses on issues crucial to modern, pluralistic societies (diverse societies with many belief systems and tolerances of those differences). Her work explores issues of immigration ethics, cultural pluralism and structural injustice. Read more here.

What: O’ King
Details: Hope, unity, social justice, sense of community, a frank discussion of race. Those are some of the themes to be explored at this event celebrating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Featured performers are UTC Chambers singers, the Eta Phi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, student Taylor Freeman (dance), staff Terrance Banks (spoken word), Chattanooga Boys Choir, Littleton H. Mason Singers and the combined choruses from McCallie and GPS.

What: Open Forum with Political Analyst Roland Martin
Details: Roland Martin will be visiting UTC as Keynote Speaker to discuss Social Justice in the 21st Century. His career spans all facets of journalism—and across the breadth of news media—newspapers, magazine, books, radio and TV. Throughout his career, he has earned more than 30 awards for journalistic excellence. Martin has published three books, including Speak, Brother! A Black Man’s View of America and contributed to several others.
