The upcoming Art of Networking event at the Hunter Museum of American Art isn’t your typical career fair, says Mo Baptiste, executive director of Student Development.
“Unlike a career fair, there is no pressure to perform. The purpose of this event is for the students to engage professionals from various industries while practicing soft skills that will serve them for the rest of their careers,” Baptiste explains.
Soft skills such as maneuvering through conversations, actively listening to others or demonstrating empathy aren’t always learned in the classroom, but they are high-demand skills necessary to landing a job after graduation, Baptiste says.
The Art of Networking isn’t just for UTC students. The event is open to students from Chattanooga State Community College.
To participate
Chattanooga-area business professionals, along with UTC faculty and staff, are encouraged to attend. To register as a networker, go to https://goo.gl/Pznnr5.
“What makes this event different is that the College of Business is leading the charge to engage in true interdivisional, multi-institutional community-based collaborations,” Baptiste adds.
