MOC Forward returns to campus on Monday. Launched in 2017 as a daylong focus on appreciating and thriving in diversity, the second annual MOC—Moving Our Campus—Forward at UTC brings Noma Anderson, special adviser to the system-wide UT president for diversity and inclusion, to serve as keynote speaker.

Anderson has been special advisor to the UT president since 2016, providing counsel on strategic planning and decision-making for diversity and inclusion initiatives system-wide. She also has chaired the UT president’s Diversity Advisory Council since 2012.
When Anderson joined the university system as dean of the College of Health Professions at the UT Health Science Center in Memphis in 2010, she was the first African-American dean in center’s history.
“At UTC, the reality and benefit of diversity is not in question,” Chancellor Steve Angle said. “For us, the question is, ‘What does our commitment to a campus that thrives in its diversity look like in reality, when it’s being lived by our campus community?’ ”
Organizers intend the one-day conference to enable faculty and staff to more fully understand the diversity around them and to take advantage of it for the benefit of the campus and surrounding communities.
