Marital bliss goes awry in the latest production from the UTC Department of Theatre and Speech. “The Ladies Man,” a farce written by Charles Moray, runs February 11, 12, and 16, 17, 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Hackett Ward Theatre, located in the UTC Fine Arts Center. “It’s a comedy about a man who is married to a younger woman and is having problems in his marriage,” Patrick Sweetman, Assistant Professor of Theatre and Speech and director of the production, said. “He almost makes a mistake, but manages to do the right thing.”
“It’s very funny,” he continued. “It’s also an opportunity to see some great young talent at UTC.”
The cast features UTC students Casey Lemons, Stephanie Hirsh, Kristina Lumm, Kaleb Moran, John Moser, Nicole Pavol, Jennifer Ervin, and Michael Haggarty.
Nicole Pavol, plays Madame Aigreville, the main character’s mother-in-law.
“She’s definitely one of my favorite characters that I’ve ever played,” she said. “She’s completely opposite of me. She tells it like it is.”
Pavol got her start in musical theater in middle school and is currently majoring in theatre with a minor of vocal performance. Sweetman also got his start at a young age.
“I went to an all-boys high school and I wanted to meet girls,” he said. “I auditioned for ‘Dracula’ when I was 15.”
