The UTC Theatre Department’s latest production “Anton in Show Business” continues its run at the Dorothy Hackett Ward Theatre in UTC Fine Arts Center. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17, and Saturday, February 18. A special matinee performance also will be offered on Saturday at 2 p.m.
“Anton in Show Business” is a fast-paced backstage comedy about producing one of Anton Chekhov’s classic plays. The play comically examines the challenges of producing a classic piece of theatre in a contemporary cynical, product-oriented world.
The diverse characters are played by an all female cast, consisting of Iesha Vann, Kristina Lumm, Stephanie Hirsh, Megan Cobb, Charlotte Grater, Sofia Zinkann, and Erin Skelley. Gregory Jackson is the stage manager of the production.
The sets and props are designed by UTC faculty member Gaye Jeffers, and Assistant Scenic Designer UTC student Jessica Thomas. John R. Burgess designed the lighting and served as Technical Director of the production. Costume designs are created by UTC student Rebecca Owens, mentored by Sydney Roberts, the Department of Theatre’s resident costume designer.
