More often than not, when students construct their class schedules for the semester, they find themselves with decent-sized time gaps from the end of one class to the start of the next.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has many places to hang out. From study areas and campus restaurants to recording studios and a game of spikeball, UTC has a wide variety of sites and activities to check out.

UTC Library
The UTC Library is a valuable asset for all students.
For those looking for a calm, cozy study area to work on homework and projects, or even just a place to get some alone time before their next class, one can always find solitude in a library booth. Books and movies from countless eras and genres are available to borrow. There are multiple computers with access to Office365 apps, as well as printers scattered throughout the building.
In addition to the obvious study area, the library offers plenty of other services. On the second floor, students can check out cameras for photography or videography, tripods, microphones, speakers and more. There are soundproof recording studios where students can record and produce music and podcasts.
The UTC Library is connected to Starbucks and is one of many places on campus where students can fill gaps in their class schedules.

UTC ARC
The UTC Aquatic and Recreation Center has always been the place for UTC students to prioritize physical activities and get their minds off schoolwork.
The first floor of the ARC features a full gym with a variety of workout equipment, including full racks of dumbbells, Smith machines,leg press machines and more. A full climbing wall and UTC Outdoors are also located on this level, so any student who is into rock climbing or interested in learning more about the activities or programs offered by UTC Outdoors can find out more.
The second floor has two full-sized basketball courts for students to shoot around or play pick-up games. The third floor has a walking track for students to walk or run around on, as well as multiple treadmills and extra workout equipment in case the first floor is too crowded. Multiple workout classes are available throughout the week in different parts of the building.
The indoor pool area features a swirly waterslide, a lazy river, a hot tub, a volleyball net and a basketball goal. Swimming lessons, workout classes, parties and summer camps are held in these areas as well.

Chamberlain Field
Located in the heart of campus, Chamberlain Field’s appeal is simple: it’s a place to chill.
Students can be outside and enjoy the Chattanooga weather. Some like to bring blankets or hammocks to stretch out and relax, while others bring footballs to throw or a spikeball set to play with others. Pets can get in on the fun as well, as it is a common occurrence to see students playing a game of fetch with their dogs.
If you want to sit and listen to music or scroll on your phone while people-watching, benches and shady areas surround the perimeter of the field.
With nearly 200,000 square feet of space, the University Center is one of the central hubs of campus.

The University Center has multiple spots for students to explore while they wait for their next class to start.
The UC has five different restaurants for students to visit, including Chick-fil-A, Panda Express and Bento Sushi. The UTC Bookstore and a P.O.D. Market also reside in the building. Right outside the restaurant area is a large seating area with tables and booths for students to sit and eat or work on their schoolwork.

Once the site of the University’s library, newly remodeled Lupton Hall has plenty of things for students to take advantage of.
Lupton has a staggering number of desks and chairs for students to sit down and do schoolwork throughout the building. The first-floor common area includes Freshens, a popular campus restaurant which sells rice bowls, sandwiches, wraps and smoothies. Across the way from Freshens is the Center for Student Leadership, Engagement and Community. The first floor also includes the Math Plaza, where students can study, do their schoolwork or receive tutoring assistance.
The second floor of Lupton offers many places to study, including a room with photo printers and computers with full access to Adobe Creative Cloud.
