The topic: “John Dewey and Progressive Era Education Reform.”
The UTC course: American intellectual and cultural history since 1865.
The professor: Dr. Wilfred McClay, SunTrust Bank Chair of Excellence in Humanities.
The audience: worldwide, thanks to a new link on C-SPAN.
It was November 2012 when C-SPAN American History TV producer Rusty Logan approached McClay and asked to tape one of his classes. The taping was completed in February and the show aired three times in early April on C-SPAN 3. It’s now available anytime for viewing online.
McClay was “utterly honored even to be asked” to have his class taped by C-SPAN, and now he is receiving fan mail! An alumnus from a college in Vermont wrote to McClay and said the class was “one of the most intellectually interactive sessions with students that I have ever seen in the series.”
See what the buzz is all about and check out the link to McClay’s class. It’s one example how University of Tennessee at Chattanooga faculty and students achieve every day.
