UTC and the Chattanooga Arboretum and Nature Center at Reflection Riding present David George Haskell, named a 2013 Pulitzer finalist in General Nonfiction for his book The Forest Unseen: A Year’s Watch in Nature. Haskell will speak on Friday, May 3, 7:30 p.m. at the UTC Benwood Auditorium, located in the Engineering, Math and Computer Science Building at the corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets. The public is invited; admission is $5.
The New York Times writes “… [Haskell] thinks like a biologist, writes like a poet, and gives the natural world the kind of open-minded attention one expects from a Zen monk rather than a hypothesis-driven scientist.”
Haskell also received the 2013 Reed Environmental Writing Award and the 2012 National Outdoor Book Award for Natural History Literature.
Sponsors include Lookout Mountain Conservancy, North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy, Tennessee River Gorge Trust and Tennessee Wild.
