A crowd of faculty, staff, and students gathered in front of historic Founders Hall at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to welcome Chancellor Steve Angle for his first day on the job.
As he emerged from his car, Angle heard the crowd cheering “UTC” and “Go Mocs.”
“Thank you so much. I really appreciate everyone turning out. WOW!” he exclaimed.
Angle has said he was drawn to UTC because of the opportunity to make a difference at a metropolitan university that’s “right downtown. It’s not a university off isolated, it’s part of the community. It will have a huge impact on the future of the region and Chattanooga. To see them grow together with excellence is an exciting opportunity.”
On March 1, 2013, UT President Joseph DiPietro recommended Angle and the UT Board of Trustees approved the recommendation. He is the 17th leader of the University.
Angle comes from Wright State University, where he served as senior vice president.
