The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Business announces a donation of $50,000 from the SunTrust Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship program in support of undergraduate female students who major in finance.
The SunTrust Foundation Scholarship will be awarded each year to two outstanding junior women finance majors. Scholarship recipients’ selection will be based upon an extensive application and interview process, academic performance, exhibited leadership experience and extra-curricular and community engagement activities.
Scholarship recipients will participate in a number of enriched academic experiences provided through the UTC College of Business’ Galtere Institute: Finance for the Future Initiative, which focuses on helping high potential young women develop the skills and leadership experience to successfully pursue careers in the finance sector.
“SunTrust is a valued partner to the College of Business,” stated Dr. Robert Dooley, Dean of the UTC College of Business.
“By endowing the SunTrust Foundation Scholarship, a pathway to success will be created for young women pursuing a career in finance, which will ultimately lead to an increase of women’s influence and power in the financial sector,” SunTrust President, J.V. Vaughn added. “The SunTrust Foundation’s mission is to support nonprofit organizations and institutions engaged in activities promoting education, health and human services, culture and art, and civic and community involvement that contribute to the social and economic development of the communities we serve.”
