UTC students may find themselves reflected in one of campus’s new works of art. “Three Shades of Green” is an eighteen foot tall sculpture placed across from Race Hooper Hall. It was decided to position the piece so that it overlooks green space and the new library. Jim Collins, former art professor at UTC, has created this sculpture with three powder-coated aluminum figures sitting 15 feet high, perched atop recycled fiberglass turbine blades.

UTC to celebrate its 127th anniversary
Birthday cake is on the menu as the University celebrates its Founder’s Day on September 13. The Student Alumni Council and alumni will be serving cake in Heritage Plaza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in honor of UTC’s 127th anniversary.

Cress Gallery opens with Department of Art Faculty Exhibition
The UTC Cress Gallery of Art is beginning this academic year with a chance for everyone to see what the Art Department faculty can do. One piece in particular will, for the first time, spill out of the gallery and into the Fine Arts lobby. “We had to get special permission, but everyone is really excited,” says Ruth Grover, Director and Curator of the Cress Gallery of Art.

The 2013-14 Patten Performance Series will once again bring nationally and internationally recognized artists to the UTC community and Chattanooga Area. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at the UTC Fine Arts Center on the corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets.

Alumna describes experience of introducing President Obama
The Sunday before President Barack Obama arrived in Chattanooga on Tuesday, July 30, Amazon executives approached UTC communication alumna and Amazon employee Lydia Flanders ‘06 and asked if she wanted to introduce the Chief Executive.
