The journey into space is as much psychological as it is physical. Astronauts’ environment is a small spaceship where they work, sleep, and eat with the same coworkers every day in a dangerous, high-stress space for long periods of time. As an I-O psychologist for NASA, it’s Dr. Kelley Slack’s job to prepare the newest class of astronauts for space travel.
UTC students investigate paranormal activity
While the topic of ghosts may bring up images of Ghostbusters and a slew of horror movies to most, a group of students is focusing on the scientific and historical aspects of the subject. Students in the UTC Parapsychology and Paranormal Scientific Investigators discuss and pursue advancements in the field of paranormal research with adherence to the scientific method.

Alumna chosen for graduate fellowship
UTC Alumna Jillian Pennyman ’13 has been chosen for the Betty Jane Narver Policy Fellowship for 2013 – 2014. Pennyman received both a B.S. and M.Ed. in Secondary Education from UTC. She is pursuing the Master’s in Education Policy.

Experiential learning increases student success
Eleven UTC students in the upper level cross-disciplinary course Tropical Island Ecology and Geology conducted research in San Salvador last summer, where they examined coral and algae living on natural reefs and compared them to those living on artificial reefs, such as sunken ships. Dr. Ann Holmes, Assistant Professor of Geology, and Dawn Ford, Adjunct Professor in Biological and Environmental Sciences, added a new layer of learning for these students by earning the designation of the pilot ThinkAchieve Experiential Learning class.
Campus mourns passing of Interim Chancellor Bogue
