University raises money for American Heart Association with “Zumbathon”
Andrea Kulesz, UTC student and self confessed “Zumba addict,” didn’t need to think twice about signing up for the Zumbathon that rocked the UTC Aquatics and Recreation Center. Students volunteer to pack meals for the hungry
Student Ben Jones transferred to UTC only a few weeks ago and he already met new friends and found a sense of purpose from volunteering with Feed My Starving Children. The University partnered with the organization to hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children.

The Mocs are going to Washington! A group of more than 30 UTC students will be attending the 57th Quadrennial Presidential Inauguration commemorating the 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, in Washington D.C. The trip is part of a learning opportunity about civic engagement and the political process.
Student work on display at the Cress Gallery of Art
The Cress Gallery of Art celebrates a new semester with a display of student artwork for the the 2013 UTC Department of Art Annual Juried Student Exhibition. The exhibition runs through January 31. The gallery is open to the public and admission is free.
Students place in national chemical car competition
An improved chemical car design from the UTC chemical engineering student team secured a ninth-place finish and the award for “Best Inherent Design for Safety” at the national American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) competition.
University partners with community for science programs
A degu, a small mammal found only in Chile, is bringing together the Chattanooga community. In partnership with the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy (CGLA), the Chattanooga Zoo, and local TV station WTCI, the University is creating a collaborative educational outreach program to inform students and the community about this little known animal.
