Less than a mile from the UTC campus, a village of moms bond through one shared experience: managing single parenthood in college. Founded by Chattanooga local Cara Hicks on Oct. 24, 2014, the MOMentum Network was created to bring together single student moms at UTC and Chattanooga State Community College and provide them with the resources and support they need to be successful.
Bring out the broom: UTC student writers sweep awards competition
Five UTC communication majors have been recognized for their multimedia and journalism skills. UTC students Mason Edwards, Bethany Cothran and Cassandra Castillo, and recent May graduates Caroline Colvin and Maddie Charnes, took home top honors in all three student categories—Best Feature Story, Best News Coverage and Best Student Journalist—at the recent Golden Press Card Awards in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Tied to the ‘Thread of Fate’: UTC’s Remote Area Medical chapter prepares students to help others
Now in its second year as a student organization at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the Remote Area Medical (RAM) chapter brings students to free pop-up clinics across the state to assist in providing vision, dental and general medical care to people in need.
Combating the heat: UTC students recognized for their work
Last summer, four UTC students worked with Dr. Dawn Ford and the Hamilton County Health Department on a tabletop exercise to come up with ways to respond in the event of extreme heat. In one of their newsletters this fall, the National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) discussed the work they did.
Welcome to campus: UTC set to host Power C Tour, Blue and Gold Preview Day
The Power C Tour, a statewide outreach effort to prospective students on academic programs, admissions, housing, financial aid and campus life at UTC, arrives here on campus from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 8)—giving high school students, transfers, graduate students and their families a feel for UTC. On Saturday (Nov. 11), the Undergraduate Admissions Office will host its annual Blue and Gold Preview Day for prospective students and their families.

Over 1,000 people came together at Coolidge Park Saturday, April 15, to celebrate the 10th annual Chattanooga Autism Celebration Walk. One of the walk’s participants was University of Tennessee at Chattanooga freshman psychology major Ella Dunkelberger, who grew up in Johnson City, Tennessee, playing soccer, riding bikes and enjoying the outdoors.
