The Educational Opportunity Center, located on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus, is a 100% free program that provides counseling and information on college admissions to qualified adults who want to enter or continue a program of postsecondary education. The program also offers services to improve participants’ financial and economic literacy.

The Southern Appalachian Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a grant program funded by the U.S. Department of Education and does exactly what its name says—help bring educational opportunities to those who need assistance.

After Melissa Mitchell graduated from Marion County High School, she knew she had the potential for a four-year academic degree. A meeting with Cathy Brown of the Educational Opportunity Center motivated her to enroll at UTC.
