The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a finalist for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team of the Year in the Triple E Awards, which focus on university programs that involve and benefit students and the local community.
The Triple E Awards: Entrepreneurship and Engagement Excellence in Higher Education have chosen the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, part of the Gary W. Rollins College of Business, as a finalist in the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team of the Year” category.
Now celebrating its second year in operation, the Hatch It! Lab is far more than just a place to make 3D-printed defense weapons. Students in 41 courses such as botany, literature, psychology, Afrofuturism, education and criminal justice have used the lab.
The What’sNxt app uses information from personality tests, personal interest quizzes, skills assessments and similar sources to offer career choice options. Based on a person’s individual data, What’sNxt suggests potential careers and if a college degree, licensure or other credentials might be required.
In its first year, the lab has been used by students in many courses, including botany, communications, cybersecurity and entrepreneurship.
A laser cutter, 3D printer, vinyl cutter, combination sewing and embroidery machine, mini photo booth and supplies are on hand in Hatch It! Lab.
