The Cress Gallery of Art announces the opening of the 2008 UTC Department of Art Juried Student Exhibition.
This year’s Juror Catherine C. (CeCe) Cole, artist and educator based in Louisiana, has selected an outstanding group of 31 works from over 120 submissions for this 13th edition the show. All areas of the department’s foundation and professional programs curriculum are represented with painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, installation, new media, graphic design, printmaking, and photography.
The doors of the Cress will open at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, and a public reception with light hors d’oeuvres will be held in the lobby of the Fine Arts Center. At 5:45 p.m. awards will be presented to those students whose work the Juror selected to receive special honors.
“This exhibit is shaping up to be another spectacular show in the tradition of this event with work that is both well-thought and well- crafted,” said Ruth Grover, UTC Director and Curator of Galleries, Exhibitions, and Collections. “Please join us in celebrating the dedication and accomplishment of these UTC students.”
The exhibit is sponsored by the UTC Friends of the Gallery contributors’ fund.
