Dr. Scott Huelin will present “Readerly Hospitality” at the 2008 UTC Lecture in the Humanities on Friday, February 15, 4-6 p.m. in the Signal Mountain Room of the UTC University Center. The lecture is open to the public and there is no charge.
Huelin teaches in the Honors College of Valparaiso University. He received a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and an MA in Comparative Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. in Religion and Literature from the University of Chicago.
His published essays have appeared in Literature and Theology, Religion & Literature, and the Journal of the National Council of Honors Colleges. He has just completed a book on the ethics of reading entitled The Reader’s Odyssey: A Hermeneutics of Hospitality. His lecture at UTC will be based upon his latest book.
Huelin’s presentation will be followed by questions and answers. Refreshments will be served.
