A celebration for students, faculty, staff and community partners was held to officially open the UTC Multicultural Center and the UTC Women’s Center. Tara Mathis, Associate Dean of Student Development heads the Multicultural Center and Sara Peters is the director of the UTC Women’s Center.
Saying the University has waited a long time for these offices to be established on campus, Chancellor Roger Brown quoted anthropologist Margaret Mead, saying:
“If we are to achieve a richer culture, rich in contrasting values, we must recognize the whole gamut of human potentialities, and so weave a less arbitrary social fabric, one in which each diverse human gift will find a fitting place.”
