The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Department of Theatre and Speech concludes the 2008-09 season with the musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors, to be held in the Dorothy Hackett Ward Theatre in the UTC Fine Arts Center APRIL 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Based on the cult classic B-movie, this hilarious American musical follows the antics of a skid-row florist shop and its prize carnivorous plant, Audrey II. Seemingly overnight the quirky shop florist, Seymour, goes from a rejected amateur botanist to the toast of the town. As the plant grows and thrives so does Seymour’s love life and fame…but success is never free. In Seymour’s case it has a wickedly funny price tag.
Featuring songs such as “Suddenly Seymour” and “Somewhere That’s Green,” Little Shop of Horrors is filled with musical numbers that have become standards in the American musical genre.
The production is directed by Gaye Jeffers and Steve Ray with musical direction by Suzanne Carter. The set is designed by Steve Ray and Gaye Jeffers with lighting design by John R. Burgess and costume design by Sydney Roberts.
Cast members include: Savannah Daigle, Kevin Faragher, Adena Grace, Thom Hawtin, Sean Henon, John Moser, Lauren Presson, Steve Ray, Emily White.
