Chattanooga Spirit Teams received several honors while they attended cheer camp at The University of Alabama.
Among the 38 spirit teams participating, the UTC Cheerleaders won first place in “Fight Song.”
“The first place trophy for cheer in ‘Fight Song’ is significant because the cheer team learns our UTC Fight Song and incorporates a stunt sequence into the performance. We took pride in performing our best for UTC while competing against 11 other teams, each performing their own school’s fight song,” said Ashli Stiles, Chattanooga Spirit coach.
The UTC Cheerleaders also took second place in sideline cheering.
Both the UTC Cheerleaders and the Sugar MOCS Dance Team won superior trophies.
“You have to receive all blue ribbons in your camp performances to receive the Superior Trophy,” Stiles said. “When you receive blue ribbons this means your teams are ‘game day ready.’ This is very important to the teams because the team members work so much on their own to get ready for all the sports seasons.”
The Sugar MOCS Dance Team also won second place in “Home Routine,” which required a choreographed routine that is 2.5 seconds in length. The Sugar MOCS performed the dance the first night of camp. Captain Abby Bowman and former Sugar MOC Emily Ryans choreographed the routine.
