University representatives offered recruiting information to those who attended the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and a UTC alumnus was honored at the Chamber’s Small Business Awards Luncheon, an annual event celebrating small business and entrepreneurial excellence in Chattanooga.
Among the top three businesses selected as Small Business of the Year (employing between 21 – 50 employees) was Metro Services, Inc., which provides heating and air conditioning solutions for residential, industrial and commercial customers including office, educational, health care, government and private industry in Chattanooga and the surrounding area.
Owner Ron Speicher is a UTC engineering graduate and LEED Green Associate, who supervises a team of 23 highly trained Metro employees.
Metro is focused on energy conservation and the use of renewable energy such as solar electric and solar water heating. The company’s work in this arena includes educating customers on the most environmentally sustainable options and coordinating applications for
state and federal stimulus grant funding on behalf of customers.
Metro is the only private organization in Tennessee certified with the Department of Energy for industrial energy studies. The company is a listed partner with the EPA Service and Product Provider network.
