Commencement
General (Retired) B. B. Bell, a native Tennessean and UTC Distinguished Alumnus, will address UTC graduates at commencement exercises on Sunday, May 2, at 2 p.m. in McKenzie Arena. Read more about Bell below.
General B. B. Bell, US Army (Retired)
B. B. Bell, General, US Army and native Tennessean, retired in 2008 following 39 years of military service. He graduated from the University of Chattanooga in 1969 with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, General Bell was commissioned in the Army as a participant in the University’s ROTC program and designated a Distinguished Military Graduate. He served fifteen years deployed overseas during both peace and war times. As a two star general, he commanded the Army’s Armor Center at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and later, as a three star general, he commanded the Army’s Third Corps, headquartered at Fort Hood, Texas. As a four star general, General Bell commanded the US Army in Europe, as well as NATO’s Land Component Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. Subsequently he served as the Commander of US Forces in Korea, as well as commander of all Allied forces in Korea. General Bell is a veteran of the Iraq Desert Storm Campaign where he served as General Norman Schwarzkopf’s Executive Officer, as well as the Balkans Campaigns in southern Europe. He is a lifetime member of the New York based Council on Foreign Relations, has a master’s degree from the University of Southern California, and holds two honorary doctorate degrees. He was named UTC Distinguished Alumnus in 2003. He is married to Katie Fields Bell of Chattanooga. Their son, Buck, lives with his wife, Jennifer, and daughter, Jinny, fondly known as “the princess of the world” in Tampa, Florida.
The Finals Study Marathon will be held Tuesday-Thursday, April 20- 22, from 1p.m. – 10 p.m. in the Lupton Library and the University Center, Student Technology Center. This event includes:
