The UTC Faculty Senate and the entire campus community honors retiring faculty members for their outstanding service to the University.
Dr. Ralph Anderson
Professor of Political Science, Public Administration, and Nonprofit Management
Dr. Anderson joined the UTC faculty in 1982. His honors include Outstanding Advising, Outstanding Teacher, and the Patricia Draper Obear Distinguished Teaching Professorship.
Anderson served as executive director of Siskin Memorial Foundation while he was on a one-year leave from UTC. He received multiple grants to establish close partnerships with local nonprofit agencies.
Dr. Prem Chopra
Professor of Engineering Management
Dr. Chopra came to UTC in 1986 as a Senior Fellow at the Center of Excellence for Computer Application.
Chopra’s research emphasis was voice technology and robotics. While at UTC, he received the College of Engineering Research Excellence Award.
He authored four books on management and leadership and more than 100 papers and reports.
Dr. George Helton
Professor of Education, School Psychology
Dr. Helton became a faculty member in 1975. He created UTC’s School Psychology program and led the program to full approval by the National Association of School Psychologists.
Helton holds the National Certified School Psychologist designation and is board certified to practice in Tennessee.
He has published extensively in the area of ethical practices and served as Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Tennessee Association of School Psychologists.
Dr. Judy Nixon
Hart Professor of Business Administration
Dr. Nixon joined the UTC faculty in 1975. She served as Department Head and Director of Cooperative Education for Business.
Nixon’s areas of research included management theory, human resource management, and communication.
As a faculty member, Nixon supervised more than 24 internships and 30 independent studies. She was also named Outstanding EMBA faculty member and Distance Education Teacher.
