Dr. Steve Fallon, the Rev. John J. Cavanaugh, CSC, Professor of the Humanities in the Program of Liberal Studies at Notre Dame will present, “Genesis and Gender: Milton’s Adam & Eve and the Birth of Modern Marriage.”
Milton’s Paradise Lost (1667), our language’s greatest epic, offers both a sweeping vista of all space and time and an intimate portrait of marriage. This lecture explores the complex, prescient thinking on gender and marriage by a writer who has been attacked as a misogynist and celebrated as a proto-feminist.
This lecture is free and open to the public and will take place on Monday, September 26, 1 – 2 P.M, in the UC Auditorium.
