A Mock Trial team from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is headed for the West Coast.
After competing against eight teams at the Opening Round Championship Series Tournament in Ohio, the UTC team of nine will fly to Los Angeles on April 20 for the 33rd American Mock Trial Association’s National Championship. A total of 63 teams are set to compete.
Led by Mike Giglio, a local attorney and adjunct professor in political science and public service, and coach Stephanie Fast, the UTC team was one of 24 teams competing in the Ohio series. To earn a trip to LA, they defeated Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State, University of Mississippi, Vanderbilt, Case Western, Indiana University Bloomington and the University of Alabama.
The UTC team members are: Erika Hyde, Alanna Rice, Madison Bennett, Ethan Greene, Elliott Geary, Peter Zeglen, Zeke Starr, Yonishka Voorhees, and Michael Boehm. Starr, who’s majoring in political science and public service, won an outstanding attorney award.
