The University Tennessee at Chattanooga Novice Women’s 4+ Rowing Team is now ranked 11th in the country.
Competing on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Ga., over the weekend, the team beat out others from such schools as Washington State University, the Davis and Irvine campuses of the University of California, and Wichita State University.
Team members are Lauren Solomon, Olivia Been, Madison Compton, Elizabeth Plunk and Alexandra Basar. The “Novice” category means all team members are freshmen.
“These ladies have worked so hard and shown their dedication to the sport and our team and it is great for them to receive back the support of the university and its staff,” says Drew Steadman, assistant coach for the team.
The team is “more dedicated than ever and tell me how excited they are to continue rowing this fall and become stronger and faster,” he adds.
