Dr. Tony Skjellum has been appointed as director of UTC’s SimCenter.
The SimCenter uses computer modeling and other applications to solve problems in such areas as engineering, manufacturing, healthcare and energy usage, among others. Supported by federal agencies and commercial businesses nationwide, it is available to students and faculty across the university.
Skjellum formerly was the director of the Cyber Research Center at Auburn University. He also led research and development in high-performance computing in Auburn’s College of Engineering.
From 2003-2013, he was a professor and chairman in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
He received his bachelor’s of science, master’s of science and Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology.
