What: An End to the Age of Innocence: How the Great War Forever Changed American Literature
Details: Author James McGrath Morris will speak about his most recent book, The Ambulance Drivers, which details the tortured friendship between Ernest Hemingway and John Dos Passos, whose literary careers took off shortly after meeting as ambulance drivers on the bloody battlefields of World War I.

What: UTC Opera, featuring Bach’s Coffee Cantata
Details: The plot is based on themes from Italian Commedia dell’Arte. When a father is concerned with his daughter’s scandalous habit of drinking coffee, he forbids her to marry unless she’ll change her ways. The daughter still finds a way to sneak her cups of coffee into marriage. Scenes from “Spamalot” and Lalo’s “Le Roid d’Ys” will also be featured.

Details: UTC alumnus and ATF Special Agent, Richard J. Boehning specializes in long-term, complex investigations of the nation’s most violent gangs. Boehning will give a detailed presentation on the investigation into the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas and the lessons learned from it.

What: UTC Chamber Singers and Chattanooga Singers present “Northern Lights”
Details: “Northern Lights,” a concert featuring music from the Baltic States will spotlight music by composers from Estonia, Latvia, Norway, Finland and Sweden. A second, underlying theme for the concert is that of peace. This part of the world has known occupation and freedom that came through peaceful means of group singing.
