Li Yang, Guerry professor of computer science and engineering in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, has been appointed as a program director at the National Science Foundation for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Yang is the first UTC faculty member receive such an appointment to the NSF. She will serve as a director for organization’s CyberCorps and Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace programs, which seek to advance and bolster the U.S. cybersecurity education and workforce development.
Her expertise in cybersecurity has attracted about $4 million in funding from a number of national agencies over the years. Under her leadership, UTC has secured external funding to promote innovation in applied research and to foster diversity, inclusion and excellence in computing and cybersecurity.
