Will Sutton says the inflatable sculpture that he and other students made as a class project is supposed to “convey my experience at UTC.”
Apparently his experience at UTC feels like a huge, bulbous, white ball with arms.
Their project, made for a Professor Ted Ross’ Sculpture 1 class, was on display this morning on Chamberlain Field then carried/rolled across the field to end up against the UTC Library. Made totally from recyclable materials, it was only inflated for a few minutes before its exhibition was over.
Sutton came up with the idea for the sculpture, saying, “I was thinking about space using plastic as an inflatable to define form and think about the space around us.”
He was project manager for its creation but every member of the class contributed to it, he says.
