Vicki Farnsworth, an experienced information technology leader with more than 25 years’ experience in the higher education field, becomes vice chancellor for information technology and chief information officer at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, effective Jan. 9.
Farnsworth comes to UTC from Purdue University in Indiana, where she has spent her career in a variety of IT-related roles.
Farnsworth has been executive director of enterprise solutions at Purdue since 2017, leading a team of directors, managers and technical staff. The team is responsible for setting the technology strategic direction for students, faculty and administrative areas of financial aid, admissions, human resources, finance, advancement/engagement, sponsored programs, student life, conferences, digital education and more using systems such as SAP, Banner, Blackboard, COEUS, SharePoint and Micros.
Prior to that role, Farnsworth had been senior director in the Purdue Business Systems Competency Center since 2014. Farnsworth joined the IT staff at Purdue in 1995 and has co-authored several publications in the IT field.
Farnsworth has a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and a master’s degree in systems management from Purdue.
