The UTC Library has made a number of changes to safeguard the well-being of all students, faculty and staff , as well as the Library workers.
As with fall classes, many instruction-related, research, writing and studio services have moved online, while others are operating both on the ground and online. The Library website is up-to-date with current changes and can be found at utc.edu/library.
Below are some of the important changes to the Library building for the Fall 2020 semester ahead.
- The UTC Library is open, via swipe card access, to current UTC students, faculty, staff and affiliates.
- You must have an active Mocs card to swipe into the building
- Masks and social distancing are required while inside the Library.
- There are no overnight study hours for the fall semester.
- No food is allowed inside the Library past the security gates.
- Food is allowed in the area adjacent to Starbucks, which is outside the security gates.
- Covered beverages are allowed inside the Library.
- The Library has implemented strict new cleaning protocols for the building and has cleaning and quarantine protocols in place for returned materials and technology.
- Most study and meeting rooms are available, effective Monday, Aug. 24, with reduced occupancy and for three-hour use.
- Desktop computers are available on the second floor, with reduced seating occupancy.
- Stop by the first floor Service Desk to check out a keyboard and mouse for three-hours use.
- Laptops, Chromebooks, calculators and non-returnable earbuds are available at the first–floor Service Desk.
- The ground floor is closed, and the second floor Help and Information desk has limited staffing.
