To account for the calendar shift for spring 2021 semester and resume a ‘regular’ calendar for fall 2021 semester, the summer 2021 semester will be shortened from the usual 12 weeks to 11 weeks for summer 2021 only.
As part of the summer scheduling process in early 2021, we will provide departments with standard class periods that ensure the required instructional time is completed within the shortened term. This calendar is a product of faculty and staff collaboration, including counsel from the Faculty Senate leadership as well as input from faculty who regularly teach summer classes.
Important dates in the summer 2021 academic calendar are:
- Summer classes begin Wed., May 19, and end Tues., Aug. 3.
- Part of Term 1 ends Fri., June 25; Term 2 begins Mon., June 28.
- Memorial Day and Independence Day Holidays will be observed.
- The degree conferral is Aug. 7, 2021.
You can review the entire revised spring calendar online. Visit utc.edu/registrar/calendars-and-schedules for more information.
The committee charged to address calendar issues does not anticipate additional recommendations for pandemic adjustments. We all hope to return to a more typical academic rhythm for August 2021 and beyond.
