Irene Hillman is the new director of student success in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Her role includes developing and managing career and internships programs for students, working with local industries that partner with the college and job recruitment.
Her prior position at UTC was manager of career services in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business, where she worked on many of the same types of programs she will administer in the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
Among her responsibilities in the College of Business were increasing student participation in career development events, working with the Joseph F. Decosimo Success Center and implementing student programs such as mock interviews, resume workshops and the Night of Networking. She also taught a required business course that focused on professional and career development.
Hillman has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from New College of Florida, a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder and is currently completing a Ph.D. in Learning and Leadership at UTC.
