A message to campus from Chancellor Steven R. Angle
Dear UTC Colleagues,
Last Friday, UT System President Randy Boyd shared highlights of the fiscal year 2024-2025 state budget passed by the Tennessee General Assembly, including the transformational funding for the renovation and expansion of Fletcher Hall, home to the Gary W. Rollins College of Business.
We are incredibly appreciative of the unwavering support of Gov. Bill Lee, our state legislators, the UT System, and our campus community. The general assembly’s approval of the budget emphasizes UTC’s critical role in promoting economic growth and workforce development throughout the state and the vital role the Gary W. Rollins College of Business plays. Our students, faculty and staff will be able to accomplish previously unheard-of levels of achievement thanks to the expansion, which will serve as a hub of excellence and opportunity.
In particular, we especially appreciate the work and support of our local Hamilton County delegation, especially Senator Bo Watson (chair of the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee; 1983 UTC graduate with a bachelor’s degree in biology) and Representative Patsy Hazlewood (chair of the House Finance, Ways and Means Committee), and their efforts to ensure that this project, which will double the size of the College, becomes a reality.
This expansion would not be possible without the generosity of Gary and Kathleen Rollins. Their $30 million gift will allow us to grow the number of workforce-ready graduates from our business programs.
This monumental investment by the State of Tennessee and the Rollins will help the Gary W. Rollins College of Business to achieve excellence and meet the needs of our students, the city, the region and the state. As Chattanooga’s University, we look forward to continuing to elevate our campus alongside our esteemed partners.
