In its fifth year, Mocs Give Day, a one-day digital forward fundraising campaign for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The goal is to raise $2 million from 2,000 donors.
One of the features of Mocs Give Day 2024 is the challenges and matches available only on Oct. 1 that can increase someone’s gift just by giving during the day’s event. With nine matches or challenges representing every college along with UTC Athletics, Mocs Give Day is poised to have an impact across campus.
Thanks to a group of generous donors, the Mocs Club—which supports UTC Athletics— can receive an additional $500,000 if it reaches 550 donors and $225,000 in gifts. The Gary W. Rollins College of Business can receive an additional $100,000 in scholarship support if it reaches 100 donors. A gift of any size to the Dorothy and Jim Kennedy Health Sciences Building, the future home of the UTC School of Nursing, will help unlock an additional $100,000 if it reaches 100 donors.
“Mocs Give Day is an exciting and impactful day on our campus,” said Kim White, vice chancellor of advancement. “It’s a day where alumni, friends and supporters can make a difference with a gift of any amount given to any place on campus that matters to them. While the Mocs Give Day matches and challenges are special, all gifts matter for our students.”
In recent Mocs Give Days, a campus priority fund has been featured with a special match or challenge. For 2024, this priority is the UTC Counseling Center, which provides comprehensive mental health services for UTC students—including individual counseling, group therapy, case management, psychiatric support and crisis intervention. Every dollar given to the Counseling Center will be matched up to $25,000.
“Community support like Mocs Give Day is incredibly important because it provides students with the services they need,” said Carisha Doty (’20,’23), a counselor at the UTC Counseling Center and a UTC alumna. “My goal for the Counseling Center is to continue to be a safe space and support students in any way we can.”
Mocs Give Day was a resounding success in 2023, raising over $1.7 million from 2,131 donors. With 80% of Mocs Give Day gifts at $100 or less, 211 current students, nearly 400 faculty and staff members and 882 alumni gave during Mocs Give Day 2023.
