Four students from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Department of Music were recently recognized for their talent at the 2025 Mid-South Region National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions held at Morehead State University in Kentucky.
The NATS event, which draws top collegiate vocalists from across Tennessee and Kentucky, includes a range of classical and musical theatre performance categories determined by age and years of vocal study.
Caroline Britt, a senior music therapy major, earned second place in the Musical Theatre Upper College category.
Jane Chambers, a freshman music therapy major, placed third in the Freshman Classical Treble category.
Paige Bush, a senior vocal performance major, secured third place in the Senior Classical Treble category.
All three UTC voice students advanced to the finals concert in their respective categories—an honor reserved for only the top performers in the competition.
“All of these categories were highly competitive. Please congratulate these students,” said UC Foundation Professor of Music Rebecca St. Goar.
A notable highlight was that UTC junior Bradley Bee served as the group’s collaborative pianist. A double major in piano performance and vocal music education, Bee accompanied each vocalist through every round of the competition—a role traditionally filled by professional accompanists.
The Mid-South Region NATS event is a gateway to national-level competition. Each of the vocalists will now be eligible to enter the national NATS auditions, taking the next step in their performance journey.
